My Story. My Tears. My Healing.

81% of women and 43% of men have experienced sexual abuse in their lifetime; 1/3 of them were assaulted between age 11 & 17. Everyone has a story to tell.

Victims are often “groomed” into thinking that the assaults are their fault; That they “wanted it” or “caused it”. The lies they believe become the chains that bind them.

The Healing Begins

Once in a PATH Safe House, a survivor can relax, eat, bathe, sleep and put on clean clothes. Sometimes this is the first time in years the survivor has felt cared for.

The Healing Doesn’t Stop There:
Reintegration & Care

Providing care and hope for you, who have been traumatized by prostitution and sexual abuse, is what we love.

Survivor Stories

Brave girls, ages 4-40, tell of the darkness that invaded their lives, and the light that followed.

Samantha’s Story

“My mom called PATH when I was 17 because I got in with a group that started selling me. I was still living at home and didn’t understand what all was happening. I moved into the PATH Safe House when I turned 18 and lived there for about a year but left so I could go back to the group of bad people. Today, several years later, I finally see what I was living in and what was going on. I had called PATH several times over the years but just couldn’t leave, until 4 months ago. Now I am living in a safe place and going to the PATH Center every day. I thank God and PATH for never giving up on me! I still feel embarrassed for what all went on, but I’m at least able to talk about it now.” – Samantha

Shantel’s Story

“I was raised in a group where it was normal for teen girls to have sex with older men in the group. Even the wives were okay with it. They called it a church and my parents went and I think they knew what was happening too. I did not like myself and I didn’t trust anyone. An older woman saw what was happening and brought me to PATH when I was 18. I told Ms. Louise that I was okay with what was happening and that I didn’t believe in God. I said that if he was such a loving god like everyone says, why does he allow such bad things to happen. Ms. Louise explained who God really was and I said a prayer with her for Jesus to live in my heart and help me. From that minute Jesus has been helping me see what is real and what is a lie. I still don’t make good decisions on most days but I keep going to the Center cause that’s what helps me stay away from those bad people and their lies and see more of what God wants for me. I love being there every day. It’s my favorite thing in my life right now.” – Shantel

Amanda’s Story

“I kept calling the PATH number whenever I needed money or food and when I was in jail. I guess that started about 7 years ago. They were ready to help me but I was afraid to live in one of the PATH safe places. Well, I thought I was. Then about 7 months ago something happened. PATH helped me know how to pray when I was in trouble and I think God heard me and told me that I was going to die if I didn’t make a change right then, so I called PATH and they picked me up. I don’t know if I can explain exactly what happened and I got real sick when I was coming off the drugs, but things are so different now. I get to go to the Center every day and now I’m in the work program. I get to live in the PATH apartment and now they are helping me with all my legal things and to get my baby back. I can’t explain how different it is cause I can’t even understand it. But I wanted to share this cause maybe it can help someone else who is doing the same dumb things I did by believing the lies from those dudes who just lie to keep you trapped.” – Amanda
